In September, CGA’s Colette Mazzucelli opened the annual Conflict, Security, and Development Series, presenting with Laura Walker Hudson, CEO, Foundation, FrontlineSMS, and CGA alum John Toner, Community Systems Foundation, in a program titled “Crisis Mapping in Elections: What Kenya Can Teach Us.” A profile of the event appeared on NYU Wagner’s blog. Earlier this month, she presented on a panel to commemorate International Rural Women’s Day, October 15, at Fordham University-Lincoln Center. Her presentation, “Community Local Engagement in Crisis Mapping: From the First Responders to the Earthquake in Haiti to Empowering Women in Election Monitoring,” introduced a technology dimension to the panel discussions.
Prof. Mazzucelli is Co-Chair with Dr. Jen Ziemke, John Carroll University, of the Teaching & Learning Working Group in the International Crisis Mappers global network. The Working Group met for the first time during the ICCM 2012 conference hosted by the World Bank earlier this month.
