We were honored and delighted to host H.E. Susan E Rice, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations on August 12, 2009 at a special summer event co-sponsored by NYU’s Center on International Cooperation. This invitation-only event for MSGA faculty, students and alumni was a special opportunity to hear Ambassador Rice discuss the Obama Administration’s work at the United Nations building international partnerships to tackle global challenges.
The address was widely reported in the media; an audio recording of her powerful and passionate address is available here and the text here. We were especially pleased by her acknowledgement of “the cutting-edge scholarship” of our faculty, staff, and students, as well as our role as one of the “major contributors to the intellectual life of the United Nations.”
On 4 March, Professor Evgenii Nikitenko, head of the counter-terrorism analysis department of the Russian Security Council, visited the CGA while on a brief visit to the UN. He discussed contemporary developments with Professors Louis Klarevas and Mark Galeotti, then met with Divisional Dean Vera Jelinek.
